Day 14: CUPCAKES!

Tuesday... It's hard to remember back that far... hmm.  On Tuesday we had a class but I don't remember which one it was- probably history.  I was still so tired from finishing my English paper at 4 am on Monday morning that I went right up to my bed after class and took a three hour nap.  It felt so good!

I then did homework at the Centre until the afternoon where I went to get something I can't live without... CUPCAKES!  If you know me, you know that I truly love cupcakes so much.  I'm planning on having them at my future wedding instead of a wedding cake.  I get them on a regular basis.  My friend Anna, one of my professor's daughter, told me about a cupcake place close to where we live.  We made a cupcake date to go and a few other girls came with us.

The shop was on Portobello Road which supposedly has an amazing and eclectic market every Saturday which I plan to go to sometime soon.  There were tons of little shops that are open all the time that I wanted to shop in.  There were tons of cute scarves (Michal) and tons of fun little teacups, tea kettles, and mugs (Ashley).

The cupcakes shop was called Hummingbird Bakery and it has the cutest little design and environment.  We got Blackbottom Cupcakes which are like a moist devils food cake with lots of perfect cream cheese frosting on top.  DELICIOUS!  I'd give it an 8 out of 10 and will probably go back to try another kind that they have.  The cupcakes came in these cute little containers that looked like Chinese takeout containers.  We couldn't wait to eat them until we got home and so we walked down Portobello Road and ate them.  It was a fun little London experience.

After our dinner at the Centre, we went to one of my new favorite plays... Phantom of the Opera!  My parents went to this as the first date that my dad asked my mom on and so I was excited to have that connection with them and see it.  I was so moved by the music!  I know a lot of people who don't like the storyline and themes of the musical, like my roommate Michal and my new friend Katherine, but I think the music is what totally makes the play.  I got chills at least three times and felt the emotion of the characters!  It was a great experience. :)

(Whitney and I- seat buddies again!)

We all had an excited little packing party with music and everything before leaving for Paris.  There were statements made quite frequently that were along the lines of, "Guys... we're leaving for Paris in 7 hours.  BAH!"  The rest of us would freak out again and I think we were all a little too excited to sleep.  It was a more relaxed day because I didn't go out to any museums or anything but it was fun, exciting, and I got a lot done!

So glad you are having fun. We are excited to talk with you on Sunday and we want to hear all about Paris. I am sure you had a better time in Paris then I did when I visited several years ago and lost my luggage.
